Mountain peaks covered in snow during winter, then become amazing places to hike, walk and camp in spring, summer and autumn. Explore history, go for a scenic drive, a mountain bike ride or road cycle, a day or overnight hike, horse ride, swim or fish in an Alpine river and observe unique flora and fauna. The picturesque Kiewa Valley and the nearby Bogong High Plains are a great base for a vast variety of different walks. From flat sealed trails, through to the steep, rough and challenging tracks that climb to the top of Victoria's highest mountain, Mount Bogong, there are walks to suit any age and ability.
From a 1 hour walk to multi day hikes/camping, you are sure to find that special and memorable experience at our doorstep.
In winter, our closest alpine resort, Falls Creek, turns into a winter wonderland to provide the ultimate snow experience. Only a 40 minute drive away, Falls Creek has a massive 450 hectares of skiable terrain and is perfect for all ability levels.
Falls Creek is also Australia's home of cross country skiing. The free network of cross country trails stretches out to the far corners of the Bogong High Plains - this is the pristine High Country at its best.
In the on-mountain village, enjoy a great calendar of events and snow activities, with a world class selection of accommodation, dining, nightlife, and shopping.
Mountain Biking - choose between Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park, Big Hill Mountain Bike Park in Mt Beauty or Mystic in Bright and you will find a showcase of gravity and flow in beautiful alpine terrain, with trails to suit any ability.
Road Cycling - Tackle the 30km Falls Creek road climb, one of the 7 Peaks climbs or ride the challenging Bogong High Plains Road to Omeo, or nearby Mt Beauty offers easy to intermediate rides that explore the picturesque Kiewa Valley.
From Mount Beauty, there are many and varied scenic drives you can take to explore the stunning surrounding areas. Discover nearby towns, valleys and mountain ranges. Take an hour or an entire day to explore and make special memories.

With a name like Mount Beauty, it's little wonder there are views to be found just about everywhere in this small town. But some vantage points are particularly rewarding. The fertile Kiewa Valley looks fabulously serene from up high, and it's almost impossible not to notice Mount Bogong – Victoria's highest mountain at 1,986m. The Kiewa River provides some of the best trout fishing in Australia, and it's little wonder, with its pristine mountain water and reliable flow. The east and west branches of the Kiewa River meander down from the alpine peaks surrounding Mount Beauty, merging just north of the town. Take a wander and find your little piece of quiet on a fly fishing adventure, or relax on the bank by a scenic lake.
Bogong Horseback Adventures has been running award-winning tours since 1986. With licensed access to the Alpine National Park and Mount Bogong, the riding landscape is truly spectacular.
Based at their property Spring Spur, Bogong Horseback Adventures offer award-winning tours combining great food and wine, fantastic mountain-bred horses, and friendly, experienced staff.

Mount Beauty Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole golf course situated in the scenic Kiewa Valley of the Alpine High Country.
Social groups, corporate groups and green fee players are welcome to enjoy the golfing challenge and the natural beauty the course has to offer. Players often share the course with an audience of kangaroos and yellow tailed black cockatoos, and in winter take in the views of the snow-capped Mount Bogong.
Everybody with a GA handicap is most welcome to play in the Wednesday and Saturday competitions and after your game, relax on the deck of the licensed clubroom with a refreshing drink.
Look closely and there's always something tasty being served in Mount Beauty and its surrounds. The cafes and restaurants of this chilled-out valley are tucked into the nooks and crannies of Mount Beauty, Tawonga South, Tawonga and Dederang. You'll find them in places you least expect, like at the day spa or bike store.

Mount Beauty has a number of boutique stores to peruse, including Gather & Harvest, which sells local handmade soaps, candles and eco-friendly products and Sassy Road, where you'll find women's fashion and homewares. There is also Little oddly selling a quirky array of gifts!. Most stores are located in Mount Beauty's town centre along Hollands Street, but you'll also find shops along the main road in Tawonga South, like Kiewa Valley Snowsports, Tawonga South Newsagency & Post Office and more!
